About Olivia & Queen

My grandmothers, both were creative, women of Christian faith. Grandma Olivia was also an entrepreneur. You can learn more about them below.

Olivia Lee

Born June 1917, Olivia Lee Morris was my maternal grandmother who was both creative and entrepreneurial. My grandmother was an accomplished seamstress who made most of her clothes. She was the only one of her 11 siblings to attend and finish Carver High School in Brownsville, TN. Left with three daughters to support after the death of my grandfather Arthur in 1963, she became the neighborhood candy lady. Kids from all over LeMoyne-Gardens would come to her house to buy Pickles, Lemon Heads, Freeze Cups, one-cent cookies, and all types of sweet treats. Selling candy, she was able to save enough money to buy her first home in 1980.

Queen-Esther Davis

Affectionately known as "Mama Queen," she was my paternal grandmother.  She was known for making quilts, writing poetry, and cooking vegetarian spaghetti.
